Parks walk, Saturday 30 December
London Parks linear walk (from Lambeth North to Holland Park), Saturday 30 December (plus reminder for photo comp entries)
I hope that you all had a good, indulgent Christmas and are thinking of walking off some of the excesses. I am not offering a marathon but this Saturday’s walk will be about 7 miles (the morning is longer than the afternoon).
Meet at Lambeth North by 10am (Tube – Bakerloo Line). Please don’t wait outside the station as there’s not much space but cross the junction to the opposite side (area with six trees near large Billboard from where the walk will start).
The walk: Mainly on hard surfaces through several parks (6 in total if going the whole way).
Lunch: near Lancaster Gate, Bayswater. The Mitre Pub, Craven Terrace. There are also a couple of small cafes in Craven Terrace but anyone who wants to eat in the pub, please let me know as I’ll have to confirm numbers by Friday (menu info: https://www.mitrelancastergate.com/food-drink/menu). They may offer a soup of the day but it’s not shown on this menu.
NB: Some areas, esp. St. James Park/Hyde park (Winter Wonderland), will be very busy so it’s important that we stay together.
The walk ends by Holland Park tube station (Central Line) with a choice of buses into the West End or Victoria station or going West (Shepherd’s Bush/Chiswick area)
Break off: There are opportunities to break off or join in later but if you intend to join this walk at a later stage, please let me know beforehand to arrange best meeting point/time etc.
Reminder for photo competition entries:
An email was posted to our members on 6 Dec with instructions attached on how to enter pictures for the 2023 photo competition. Deadline for entries to reach me is Saturday 6 January, either via WeTransfer or a USB stick. If you are out this Saturday, it’d be an opportunity to give me your material (USB) earlier, otherwise it can be handed to me on the Saturday, 6 January’s walk. Any problems, please get in touch with me well before then.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year. Keep walking! Sigrid
