Trains: The train is as advertised in the original programme: Waterloo 9.00, Change Guildford 9.45, arr Crowthorne 10.14. You have 13 minutes to change at Guildford from Platform 4 to 8. Please note that the Crowthorne trains are hourly.

The Walk: The walk is approximately 7.5 miles on a mixture of flat and undulating terrain, with a few short sections of road and a narrow path that is likely to be extremely muddy after all the recent rain, so boots and poles advised. There are no dropout points.

Toilets: There are no toilets at Crowthorne station and none on the walk until the lunch stop.

Lunch: Lunch is in Finchampstead at the Queen’s Oak pub or for picnickers there are some benches on the adjoining green or at the church opposite. The pub offers mainly main courses but there are starters and a limited range of ciabattas that might be better advised, to avoid too long a wait.
