Wendover to Chesham, 23 Nov

Published by Havil on

Travel: 9.27 from London Marylebone to meet at Wendover Station at 10.16. Outward travel requires a single from the edge of the travel zone, Amersham to Wendover.

Return from Chesham on Metropolitan line, with possible change to main line, all within the travel zone. two trains an hour, 56 and 26.

There is literally one bus from Chesham calling at The Lee at 12.40 and going to Great Missenden which is one stop outside the travel zone. This potential opt out obviously can not be guaranteed.

The toilets at Wendover Station will be closed, and some trains do not have toilets. Facilities in Wendover are possible.

The walk: A little under 9 miles linking the attractive towns of Wendover and Chesham on the edge of the Chilterns. One hill of note in the morning, not steep. And a short climb approaching Chesham at the end of the day. One optional stile at lunchtime at The Lee.

There will probably be muddy areas, especially around field gates.

Lunch: The pub has a good menu including some light bites and also a cafe attached. However, there is no booking as it is essential to end the walk by around 4pm. Please bring some food as an option in case there is limited time for lunch.

Chesham has lots of refreshment options before returning home.

Hoping the forecast of rain improves, Tony (walks@morleyramblers.uk)
