London Parks Walk – Sat 4 Jan

Published by Sigrid on

I hope that you had an enjoyable festive season.

The walk is approx. 8 miles:

Meet by 10am at Lambeth North tube station (Bakerloo Line, southbound) – please cross junction diagonally to gather by the large bill board opposite the tube station.

We’ll walk through several parks, small and large, starting with the Archbishop’s Park and finishing at Holland Park. Most of the walk in between the parks will be through back streets but we’ll also need to cross larger roads/junctions along the way – I expect it to be busy in some areas with people out and about and with Winter Wonderland still in full swing in Hyde Park.

Loos: There’ll be public loos in some of the parks but not all are free (charges vary and are payable by cards/electronic means – no cash).

Lunch: We’ll stop in Bayswater (Lancaster Gate) at the Mitre Pub, Craven Terrace. I’ve reserved 15 places and the bar area has extra tables so we should all find space even if we go above this number. If you don’t wish to stop at the pub, there’re a couple of cafes nearby. Anyone having a picnic, there are benches by the Kensington Gardens fountains, from there it’s only a few minutes’ walk to Craven Terrace. The Mitre’s menu: https://www.mitrelancastergate.com/food-drink/a-la-carte

Drop-out: There are options to break away at various points.

Wishing you a very happy and healthy new year – and keep walking! – Sigrid

[PS: anyone wishing to submit photo comp material on a USB stick (with your name on it, please), this will be your last chance to hand them over, I’ll collect on behalf of Christine R]
