Ramble from Holmwood, 29 Mar

Trains: Depart 9.41 from Victoria,  Clapham Junction 9.48. Balham 9.53, arrives Holmwood 10.47. Buy a day return to Holmwood.

Walk: 11 miles, but drop out possible after 6.4 miles. Possible muddy bits. A few stiles. Guaranteed hilly. The first half of the walk (Holmwood to Wotton) is 6.4 miles with 860 ft elevation. The second half is a further 4.5 miles from Wotton to Dorking Station on the Pilgrims Way, taking about two hours.

Drop out point:  Bus from Wotton Hatch every hour (2 minutes past the hour) for bus 32 to Dorking. The journey takes about 30 minutes. There is a pub opposite the bus shelter for refreshments.

Lunch: Leith Hill c. 1pm, for a picnic with a view. There is a kiosk (see menu below) with good coffee, tea and excellent home made cakes. Sausage rolls etc all made from the local farm products.
After lunch path downhill until Wotton Hatch.
