Hassocks Circular, 5 Apr

Published by Morley Ramblers on

Trains: Please buy  a return to Hassocks. There are several travel options, some involving a change: London Bridge 9.17 arr 10.13 or Clapham Junction 9.12, change at Gatwick, also arrives at 10.13. But please check because there is quite a lot of travel disruption this coming weekend.

Meet at Hassocks station on the far side: there are toilets on the platform. Note there are no public toilets until we get to Ditchling.

The walk: Distance 9 – 10 miles. We will set off from the station at 10.20, and wend our way to the Downs via the Clayton Church and the Jack and Jill WIndmills. The terrain is hilly,  a stick is helpful as we go downhill into Ditchling. There are four stiles after lunch, none in the morning.

Lunch: please bring a picnic. We will aim to have tea in Hassocks at 2.30. The cafes still think it’s winter and close at 3!

Drop out: It would be possible to get the hourly bus to Brighton from Ditchling Beacon. You would have to pay the extra train fare between Brighton and Hassocks coming home again.

0bstacles: Stiles, 4, in the afternoon.

It’s  a lovely Spring walk and do hope to see you. Any questions to the leader: Sue C (Non members please contact enquiries@morleyramblers.uk).
