The Walk
A long morning – 6 ½ miles. We climb up the steep scarp face of Wye Downs and walk along the ridge, with splendid views over the Stour valley.
A steep descent through woodland in Wye National Nature Reserve – sticks will be needed . Then a couple of flat miles through fields and back to the attractive village of Wye for lunch.
If you have energy after lunch we will take a two mile stroll paths over the Stour flood end at The Tickled Trout and the station.
Drop out point is at Wye at lunch time, around 1 pm.
Food
Either at the Horse there is a nice paved garden and reasonably priced food. I have not booked a table. The kitchen is open all day on Saturdays.
If you have had enough walking you may want to lunch at The Tickled Trout while you wait for the train.
Sandwich eaters will find the church yard a shady spot where there is also a sheltered porch. We start the afternoon walk from here .
Wye also boasts a cafe and a Co op store.
Weather
The forecast is for heat! ( 25ish) There is not much shade on the ridge, at the end of the morning walk or in the afternoon, so bring sun hats and cream
