Frinton-on-Sea to Walton-on-the-Naze

10 August. We arrived  at the quaint little village of Frinton-on-Sea in warm sunshine and made our way to the beach. It was still early – before midday – so it was quite easy to walk on the firm sand or along the promenade past the multi-coloured beach huts.

Lunch was on The Naze at the nearby village of Walton, where it was possible enjoy a picnic or food from the cafes, plus ice cream. There was enough time to pop into the Discovery Centre and also climb 111 steps to the top of The Tower for fabulous views of the Essex/ Suffolk coastline. The Tower also houses a shop, a cafe, a museum and an art gallery – so there’s something of interest on every floor! 

In the afternoon we walked around the wild and remote Nature Reserve to see birds, sheep and abandoned vessels in the Walton Channel. There was sufficient time to enjoy a cup of tea before catching the train back from Walton Station. Daphne, with thanks to Christine and Howard for further pictures.
