Otford to Shoreham, Kent, 24 Aug
Train: Different from that on advertised programme: Victoria 09.55, arr Otford 10.31 ( buy a return to Otford).
Food: Bring a picnic but we hope to call in to the pub at Cotmans Ash for cider and ice cream.
The walk: Gorgeous views. Max 10 miles, min 7 miles.
Hilly and bring poles, steep steps in places.
Long trousers advised.
Approx 5 Stiles (straightforward).
Optional riverside walk from Shoreham back to Otford after 7 miles.
Additional information: following the recent recce I can confirm that the mileage to Shoreham from Otford is nearly nine miles. The only break off point before Shoreham will be the pub at Cottman’s Ash ( about 4.5 miles in) where anyone wishing to finish could ring for a taxi. If anyone is likely to want to do this then please let Sue C know and she will seek out taxi numbers.
The trains from Shoreham are one an hour but it is a very pretty village with a beautiful church and two pubs.
A reminder to wear long trousers and poles may be helpful. There are five quite straightforward stiles but none in the morning. Oh, and the views are outstanding! Sue C.
